This is a lecture to introduce all necessary background to understand light-atom interaction and see how it connects to quantum computing with neutral atoms. Please find the main part of the lecture here, where we introduce rotating-frame, add rotating-wave approximation. We introduce density matrix describing a two-level atom. We prove that under the Hamiltonian derived earlier density matrix as a vector inside of Bloch ball will precess.
